About.

INSPIRED BY PHOTOGRAPHY.

I always liked the idea of being the person who captures moments and history for others. This fascination started when I lost my mother and I clung to the few photos and video clips I had of her. Life is so short. I liked the idea of capturing those for others.

This fascination and interest grew when I went to the journalism school at the University of Missouri where I learned about visual storytelling. I loved learning how to make a seemingly none visual story visual. I liked the challenge. The more serious I got into the career field, the more I learned about capturing emotions for people. People’s stories started getting me emotion. There was more to it.

Telling a story through visuals isn’t always about what cool visual trick a photographer could use. It’s about getting the moment. It’s also remembering the humans in front of the lens. Working in news, I was often touched by the little moments people showed when telling their stories.

I’ve seen people at their worst and their best. I don’t like the idea of shying away from that when I’m behind the camera. I want to capture those moments in life. I like learning and being challenged when I’m behind the camera. I will work to give you the best product I could.

Work Skills.

Experience MATTERS.

When you work behind the camera, I’ve gotten the pleasure to learn and grow to give people what they need.
01. VIDEOGRAPHY.

My videography skills have come from working at TV stations from KSHB (intern photographer for six months in 2016), KGUN9 (photographer for two years), and a multimedia reporter for The Chicago Sun-Times (six months).

02. PHOTOGRAPHY.

My interest in still photography started with my time at The Chicago Sun-Times, but it really took off when I started taking photos of MMA fights. I’m also exploring special effects photography.

03. WRITING

Writing falls mostly under blogs and articles for my professional work. I like how the written word can expand on a story in ways that visuals can’t always capture.

“Eliza is sharp and has a creative mind. She is very passionate about her work behind her lens. Regardless of what the subject-matter is, she will find a genuine interest in it, which shows in the final product.”

Max Darrow, News Reporter at KSNV Las Vegas

“When it comes to storytelling, Eliza is well-equipped to excel in any capacity. As a journalist and photographer, she invites experience with craftsmanship into her brand of filmmaking, which easily stands out. Similarly, her ability to take in and process stories is one of the reasons I always reach out to her for advice at any stage of production. She brings out the best in everyone around her while still getting the job done right.”

Anthony Martinez, Videographer

“I worked alongside Eliza at KSHB for nearly two years during which time she became a valued and integral part of the team. I came to rely on her creative visuals, compelling shooting abilities and engaging storytelling for my news stories. I also really liked her collaborative style – she’d often discuss ideas with me and welcomes my thoughts. That’s not something many professional photogs are open to. While we live in different parts of the state, I do hope our paths cross again.”

Terra Hall, former reporter at KSHB
