2019 Reign Fighting Championship is what really got me excited about shooting fights. Most of the guys I watched walk into the ring, I’ve watched train. This got me invested. And I’m sure if I was doing video, you’d be hearing me mutter about who I want to win.

Photographing these fights also triggered my adrenalin. I edited some photos on my phone so I could get the photos out faster. It triggered news speed for me. If you’ve ever worked in news, you might know what I mean. The rush to meet deadline and the sweet feeling of success when you beat the timer.

Kyle went into the ring first. If I recall correctly, Kyle ended up winning in one round. This was cool for me because I didn’t realize that the MMA ring was going to be so well lit. I usually have fun playing with the cage.

Josh won his fight after three rounds. It was his first match so it was really cool to see him win.

The one thing I have to emphasis with the gym I work with is the idea of brotherhood. I think this inspired me the most.

James G didn’t win his fight, but I loved watching the respect between the fighter. Both of them worked in the military.

James P won his fight in forty seconds. I WAS SO HAPPY I WORKED IN NEWS. That’s the only reason I got some decent shots of the fight.
