Project Description
Being stuck at home has left me feeling bored and with too much time on my hands. So I decided to create magic! Well, magic by my standards. I love diving into this since it gave me an excuse to indulge in my love of horror and fantasy. I could also pretend this was me being an “adult” because I did need to work on some skills in Photoshop.
The first photo is of my husband working on telepathy. Not really, but it looks like the Coast Guard might be making X-Men when no one is looking.
The first thing I did was set up the background. We just moved so no studio for me right now. I threw up a black bedsheet, pulled out the flash for my camera, and convinced my husband to wear a nice shirt. The last bit was a bit more difficult. I had my husband pose and try to look “magical”. (This was the most difficult part by the way, but I love seeing my husband being dark and mysterious).
Originally, the second part of the shoot was to hang some cards in front of the black background with some dark thread. Carlos suggested an easier idea. He suggested just holding the cards in different way since all I need was the cards in the same light and distance. I did that with all three cards.
Editing didn’t take me long since I didn’t have to do much. Or at least it didn’t feel like much to me.
I enjoy working on these sorts of photos especially in my free time, but I can’t wait to get back to my fight photography.
